Default Hidden Faces and Barren Places – An “Old School” Role-Play

Hear ye, Role-players of Lyssa’s Fiction! I give you a new Role-playing opportunity in the form of my newest thread, and as I shall predict the best thing that has happened to the Fiction since the “Original Role-play” thread, dictated by my comrades and myself last summer. I shall start with giving you a layout by which you should post your character’s statistics, should you wish to participate in this role-playing:
  • Character's Profession
  • Character’s Name:
  • Character’s Nickname:*
  • Character’s Age:
  • Character’s Birth Date:*
  • Character’s Height: (Approximately is fine)
  • Character’s Weight: (Approximately is fine)
  • Character’s Hair Color:~
  • Character's Eye Color:~
  • Character’s Skin tone:~(This is not for discrimination, just a bit of info if someone else needs to describe your character )

  • Any personality traits or quirks associated with your character
  • Any background information or a bit of biography*

  • Silver (through an odd occurrence when the Searing hit Ascalon)
  • Changes with mood, but typically a smoky grey-green
  • Fair, but slightly tan from her stayings in Kryta
  • Typically a Pyromancer’s set, but also uses Aeromancer and Tyrian Archmage’s
  • Dragon Staff, Plagueborne Staff
  • Typically a loner with a fiery personality to match her magic, although she does associate with people for different occasions, a bit seductive in nature, and is easily angered
  • Warrior
  • Garria Stormcrow
  • Blades (Garri by those closer to her)
  • 25
  • 278th Day, Season of the Colossus (Translation to modern calendar, October 10th)
  • 5’ 8”
  • Approximately 125 pounds
  • Chestnut Brown, slight blonde highlights throughout
  • Bright, piercing blue (Near dark navy when on an adrenaline rush)
  • Pine Wood-Colored tan
  • Gladiator’s
  • Typically seen with her trusty Fiery Dragon Sword and Crimson Carapace Shield, but also uses other rarities, such as Sskai’s Sword and Jacqui’s Aegis
  • Usually calm and composed, you can go as far as to say easy-going. Not easily frightened but is very excitable when on an adrenaline rush

And to kick off the role-play:

“Licia! Get up!” Garria’s voice echoed through the cavernous tunnels of her Guild Hall.

Partial to her sleep, Alicia was not quite ready to get up for the typical morning session, but she did anyway. Scratching her head, she made her way to the main courtyard of the Hall, stopping to see what Garria was cooking up for breakfast. It was the same as yesterday: warthog and eggs imported from Cantha, with a bit of Red Iris thrown in for more flavor. She sighed, being unable to see the reason for her sister’s constancy. Nonetheless, she took up a fork and had a few bites; training would be vigorous this morning.

She climbed onto the guild’s boat with her sister and they departed for the isle named “Random Arenas”. On this isle, heroes of all shapes, sizes, and professions were randomly put into teams to battle one another for faction with Balthazar, the Warrior God of war, and extra experience. As they arrived, the sky was beginning to darken, and they made quickly up the hill behind the Priest of Balthazar to be put into teams.

They heard the shouting of the Separator, the one hired to put heroes into random parties with people they did not know, shouting his familiar cries as they neared.

“You, Mesmer, you come here!” and “Warrior in the Platemail, you go over there!” and so on was being shouted by the Separator. They sisters neared, and were immediately put into a group with a Monk and a Necromancer, and sent through a transport portal to their arena.

“I’m Blades,” Garria said, shaking the Monk’s and then the Necromancer’s hand.

“Crow,” Alicia followed in the same pattern.

“I’m Matt, and this is a friend of mine, Ani.” The Monk said while shaking Alicia’s hand.

“Good to meet you.” Garria said as they entered the battling section of the arena.

Immediately Garria’s eyes flew to a Mesmer wearing purple Enchanter’s armor.

“Get the Mesmer.” She said to her group, “Crow, it’s Rose.”

“Perfect.” Alicia muttered under her breath.

The battle began, and the warrior on the opposing team wielded a hammer, making him an easy kill for the experienced sword mistress. A ranger blocked the path toward the Mesmer Garria had mentioned, and a few swift fireballs sent him running. The Mesmer was the next kill, but Empathy kept Garria at bay for a while, and Backfire made Alicia’s spells blast back in her face rather than flying to her target. Suddenly, the heavens poured down rain on the battle, and the teams became more destructive to themselves than the enemy. Garria was slipping, Matt kept getting pelted with the hardest drops, making him unable to concentrate on his spells, and Ani was quickly sinking the mud that snuck up on her. Only Alicia liked this weather.

“Alicia, watch it! This downpour could ruin you!” Garria shouted over the thunderous rain.

“Do you forget this is my element, Garri? I love this!” With her words, she switched her weapon to her Water Staff, and drew extra power from the rain around her. Her fireballs quickly froze into spikes and spears of ice, and pelted the Mesmer on the opposing team. “Finish her, Garria!”

And with that, the Mesmer was killed, but her spirit was able to watch the battle, and speak with the others. “Good job, my Sisters. I could have never thought of Elemental protection.” She laughed.

“Just let us kill your team, Varda. We’ll meet you back in the Hall.” Garria shouted as she and Ani finished off the last two members of the group, and they were transported back to the Random Arenas isle.

Now for you guys to add more! You know you want to, so why don't you!? (also note that I stated there were four members of the opposing team, but only gave three professions..hello perfect jump-in spot!)

Why not, I'll reply... although I will switch your order of information a little bit >_>

-Vicint Falvin (no nickname)
-Assassin
-19 (late season of Zephyr)
-5'7"
-140 lb (most of it muscle)
-Brown hair
-Dark green eyes
-Tanned, but not dark
-Assassin armour with +energy...
-Longsword and dagger (unmodded) and several belts of throwing knives)
-Eager to prove himself, but disdainful of open combat while 'on the job'.
-Vicint is the son of an elitist father who is posessed of the vision of his son one day taking over control of the guild he built from the ground - and is therefore hard on Vicint so as to temper him. Vicint's exceptional combat skills come as a result of many brutal hours being taught by the best fighters in the guild.

---------------------------------------------

Vicint wore simple clothes today, not wishing to betray the nature of his profession. Though young, the arena combatant had been trained from an early age in the subtleties of combat, and the art of the assassin.
He went unnoticed despite the broad daylight, circling around behind the warrior distracted by his enemy counterparts, the mesmer attempting to give their team mates a winning chance, and the monk desperately attempting to keep up the warrior.
His target at this moment was the elementalist deep into the casting of a powerful, complicated spell. So absorbed was the blond caster that she didn't realize Vicint was there until his blade had driven through her heart from back to front, the point of the deadly blade puncturing through the chest of the unfortunate woman.
But the kill wasn't perfect, and the woman managed a single cry in her pain that caught the attention of the enemy monk.
The short man was one of the few of his holy profession who found use in the barbaric arenas, but unlike most of the others of those who did he was smart enough to recognize a threat when he saw one.
Calling out warnings to the rest of his team, he managed to get their attention through the rest of the combat. The warrior immediately broke off from his fight with the warrior from Vicint's team, and moved to intercept the graceful nightmare approaching his healer.
But as soon as the warrior came between Vicint and his kill, the assassin had drawn on a technique he had been trying to perfect in the last few weeks. It was the most difficult to master for most people - and Vicint happened to be one of them.
Disappearing in a puff of black smoke, he reappeared immediately behind the monk and drove his dagger straight for the back of the holy man's neck. The blade was repelled from the fair skin, which briefly glowed a faint blue.
"You're pretty fast", Vicint remarked as he pressed forward, blades weaving dangerously. Each hit met evenly by the holy protection. "But how many can you take before you tire?"
As the attacks continued, the monk desperately backpeddaled, straight for the protection of the warrior. His surprise couldn't have been greater when he found Vicint disappearing once again to reappear behind the warrior and strike out fast enough to catch the monk in an unprotected area, the hamstring.

Twisting out to avoid a downward smash from the enemy warrior's enormous hammer, he saw the enemy mesmer finish activating a signet ring just before getting slashed along her back by Vicint's ally warrior. Twisting quickly, he managed to avoid recieving the revived enemy elementalist's flare in the chest.
Vicint gritted his teeth as he struggled to supress the pain from the burn, and fell back as the enemy warrior came on again with his giant hammer.

After a few swings of the mighty bludgeoning weapon, the warrior began to visibly tire, and his defenses slackened.
Long enough for Vicint's dagger to find a crack in his armour.

A second later he appeared behind the crippled monk and went once again for the single killing blow. The holy man's luck had run out, and the blade bit deep into the flesh. He was dead before he hit the ground, his spirit rising to watch the rest of the conflict.
Woozy from the repeated teleporting, Vicint found himself unable to avoid the next flare, which collided with his chest and sent him to the ground. Not dead but too weak to get back up, he could only watch as the rest of his team dealt with the rest of the enemy quartet.
A minute later, he felt the rejuvinating positive energy earned by a victory in the arenas flow through him, instantly mending his wounds and curing any aches or ailments he recieved during the battle.

In another few moments he was transported back to the sorting area of the arena, where he was placed with a warrior and elementalist with an obvious family resemblance.

No problem if you rearrange the order, I just hadn't included profession the first time, and threw it on the top of the list

-------------------------------------------------------------

As the wounds of the previous battle healed, again the sisters found themselves within the same group. The Separator found a young Assassin, obvious by his stature and clothing, and pointed him toward the pair.

He seemed a man of few words to the Elementalist, as she was usually a good judge of character, but she could not be sure. The Assassin profession could easily decieve and allow many ill-experienced with the slick tongue of lies to fall into their grasp. She decided not to worry about it, since he looked a decent enough being.

Another joined their group, and again the sisters introduced themselves while awaiting the doors to be opened into another battle. Once they did, the Warrior's sharp eyesight caught hold of the first target, and she rushed forward, eager for more adrenaline and the hollow bloodshed that would follow.

Character's Profession: W/Mo, what else?
Character’s Name: Platinum Agent
Character’s Nickname: Plat
Character’s Age: My age, 12
Character’s Birth Date: My birthday, March 7, 1994
Character’s Height: 5' 4", my height
Character’s Weight: 92 pounds, my weight
Character’s Hair Color: Black
Character's Eye Color: Black
Character’s Skin tone: Brown
Character’s Armor Type: Plain clothes, I call them "Adventurers Armor"
Character’s Weapon: Long Sword and Kanaxai's Edge
Any personality traits or quirks associated with your character: Fun-loving, lighthearted, brave, cowardly, strong, weak, overreactive, calm, outgoing, a little emo, social, and a little shy rolled into a ball and shaped into Plat!
Any background information or a bit of biography: Plat has known Alicia, her guildmates, and fellow adventurers for many years. Plat left Alicia with her husband and child at their guild hall four years ago, and began to adventure on his own. He keeps in touch with Alicia through a communicational spell he learned in Cantha. Having conquered evil in Tyria and Cantha, Plat awaits a new adventure to go on...

-----

Plat woke up in his room at the Great Temple of Balthazar. He had been staying there since he left Cantha and had already conquered all types of arenas in the Battle Isles. He knew of Alicia training in the arenas with her guildmates, and Plat planned to do a little fighting soon. Soon...After a few more days of rest...Plat fell asleep again.

-----

Plat's dream was more of a memory than a dream. He remembered when Alicia's husband and child left to go on their own adventures for a while, he remembered when he himself left to defeat the evil in Cantha. He remembered when he acquired his treasured Kanaxai's Edge, named after the blade of the great demon Kanaxai, from who he got the weapon from. He remembered all the way back when he was eight, when he was travelling with Alicia, her husband, her child, her guildmates, and other friends who had long gone away. He remembered when he was five and mastered the art of the sword and forged his Longsword. Most importantly, he remembered when he was six and the Charr destroyed his home and family. Plat's life has been a tough one, but he knew that it was not as bad as what Alicia and Vanatiel had gone through...

Plat then heard a voice in the dream calling his name...

"Plat! Can you hear me? It's me, Dwayna!"

Plat replied, "Ah, Dwayna...Another request? I already know about the upcoming evil that is to spread across an unknown land, the powers you gave me when I Ascended in both Tyria and Cantha let me know this."

Dwayna then said, "Yes, I know that you know about the new uprise of evil. But your powers cannot sense what I am about to tell you. Alicia has been having a slight mental grief ever since Vanatiel left with her son. You know about this, but now is when it has risen to a higher level. I want you to find Vantie first, then find her son."

"Umm...okay...Should I tell 'Licia?"

"It would be best. She knows about her own mental state, so she probably won't stop you. Probably."

"I'll make sure she can't stop me. I'm gonna do what's best for her. Besides, if she wants to fight, I could always use some practice with my new dual-wielding skills. Hahahaha!"

"Plat, just go do it..."

"Alright Dwayna, I'll do it. Just send down another heavenly splash of water on my face so I can wake up."

-----

"AHHHHH!!!!! It's cold!!!!!"

Plat woke up screaming from the icy cold splash of water on his face. Dwayna always makes it colder each time..., he thought to himself. He began to prepare his communications spell to tell Alicia about what Dwayna had told him, and also began hoping that she didn't encase him in a block of ice again...

-------------------------------------------------

I hope I didn't mess anything up! At any rate, it will be a while before Vantie comes into play, so he has some time to get back into the forums. And by the way Storm, what was your kid's name in the old RP? I forgot his name and I don't want to bother trying to find the thread...Probably was wiped already.

Character’s Name: Kravyn Darkrain
Character’s Nickname: (non)
Character's Profession: Assassin
Character’s Age: 16
Character’s Birth Date: Never known.
Character’s Height: 5"5
Character’s Weight: 110 lbs
Character’s Hair Color: grey
Character's Eye Color: brown
Character’s Skin tone: dark
Character’s Armor Type: Shing Jea armor dyed all white.
Character’s Weapon: Shiro's blades and throwing knives.
Personality traits: Cocky and loud. He thinks more of himself than there is to think. He often boasts of his bad deeds. Putting up a viel over what he's really like. Not once has he let anyone beyond this viel and he never plans to. He is also very sensitive about his height.
Background information: Orphand at a young age Kravyn grew up in the streets of Kaineng. Picked up and pushed into the ranks of the Am Fah he became a bandit. Raiding merchants and living his life day to day. The excitement and the sheer thrill drove him and soon he left the Am Fah to travel around Cantha, defeating a strange plauge along the way.

---------

Kravyn wandered aimlessly through the sorting area. Ignoring the Seporator's multiple requests for him to stand by a group. Kravyn was just here to mingle, to chat, entertain himself at the expence of others, the usual. In that sense he smirked to himself and tripped an unsuspecting warrior. Slinking away into the crowd as the heavily armored man tumbled and fell, knocking down a few unsuspecting rangers and a randomly placed necromancer or two. Kravyn watched the events unfold from a perch, high above the area atop a straw hut. He laughed to himself as the shouts and fights broke out.

"Priceless." His voice cold and cocky yet holding a smoothe tone that could make you believe anything that slid from his hidden thin lips. "Hmmm... What now I wonder?"

Placing his hands back behind his head he locked his deep brown eyes on the sky above. His chest rose and fall in time with the breezes that brushed by him and his white mask made a slight whistle with ever breath. The sounds of the scuffle below seemed like a whisper in the wind as Kravyn watched the clouds pass over head. The sun caught his armor and made it sparkle, the well placed dagger hilts and sheaths blending to look like mere decoration. It was nothing fancy, but it got the job done. This armor had saved his life plenty of time, and due to it's reinforced state it had the same strenght of higher level armor but the look Kravyn wanted. For him it was perfect, unique, it identified him as an idividual. Just the way he wanted it to.

Leting out a sigh he sat up and glanced around, narrowing his eyes he shrugged and hopped to his feet. Making a quick dash to the edge of the hut Kravyn lept high, flipping multiple times and landing, crouched in one of the few clear areas of the sorting grounds. Smirking at all the chaos, he had caused. People were yelling at eachother, argueing and such. All Kravyn could do was glance around and chuckle. Shrugging Kravyn leaned against a tree and watched the events unfold.

"Well... This is interesting... Heh."

(OOC: Meh, short. Sorry, gotta get back into the swing of things.)

OOC: A little post-button happy there, Neo?

IC:
Vicint ignored the greetings of his new team, seeing no gain in an introduction. He wasn't here to gain friends, he was here to perfect his art. There was no communication required - everyone knew their role in the party, or would have to quickly learn.
A quick lookover at his teammates surmised that they were both capable and experienced. Perhaps as much as he. This both thrilled and angered the assassin - fighting alongside equals allowed one to learn new tricks and things he may have missed... but fighting alongside lessers meant more available for him to do; better practice.
As the doors swung open, timed perfectly with the doors of the enemy team, Vicint was granted a view of the battlefield. Lush green hills with dotted oak trees and a towering cliff wall off to the left. A waterfall descended from the cliff to a shallow pool from which branched a quiet stream that ran through the center of the meadow. A meadow soon to be darkened with the red stain of blood.

The assassin walked out calmly, remaining behind the warrior so he could utilise his best tactic - and best defence - surprise.

Time for some storyline from my part!

-----

Plat finished preparing his communications spell and sent a warning signal to Alicia's mind to alert her of Plat's wish to speak. Plat then began preparing his pack for his journey while waiting for Alicia to respond. "Gold, check. Camp supplies, check. Cooking supplies, check. My favorite cutting knife, uber check. I'm ready to go!" Plat then sheathed both of his swords and put them next to the pack on the floor. He then sat down and begun focusing on his spell so he can communicate easily.

OOC: Nice to know this is attracting some of the bigger, well known posters here in Lyssa's Fiction!

IC:

Alicia lifted her nose to the air. Something smelled horrible, but she knew none of the others could smell it. It had always been a unique ability to smell the deeds of other Elementalists, and this one was indeed well prepared to fight to the death. She took it upon herself to take him out, no matter the cost.

Ah, yes. There he was, standing just in front of his team's set of doors, almost as if he was gloating. She would take care of him. One well placed wall of wind and fireball later, he lied dead on the ground, his visible soul pouting and shouting obscenities aimed at herself and her teammates. She had dealt with the cocky type before and chuckled to herself as she prepared to take down another target.

The team had done well, and the sisters prepared their small boat for the voyage back to their Hall for some well deserved rest and lunch. Alica was a bit uneasy though, and played with the ring that had adorned her finger after she had eaten. She remembered solemnly those days, now so long ago, and the man that had given her that same ring, though plain, that meant so much to her. A small band with three onyx fragments placed on top of it, two larger ones, with a small one between. She placed the ring back on her finger, and drifted off to a troubled sleep.

His other hightened senses make up for the sight. He shuts out everyone feeling that they hold him back. It will take a special person to make him open up but with time, he is bound to.

* Any background information or a bit of biography: While a teenager in Ascalon when the Searing took place, he had a terrible accident that left him blind and his pupils white. His parents dead and his sister missing. He vowed to never stop until she is found. Training in the dark arts, Hyper learned the ways of the Necromancer early. With his attuned senses to the other side, he quickly learned the ways of controlling minions. When he reached the age of 20 he went into hiding somewhere in Maguuma. It was then he gave himself the scars he has covering his whole body today. He wears the scars, covered in a black ink to show his dedication and to attune his mind and thoughts to the other realm. Even though he has been blind all these years, he is very powerfu and his attuned senses help him handle more dangerous situations better than most. His quest to find his sister has kept him going through all of the years and he will not quit until she is found (Shes not Gwen if your thinking that)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Hyper quickly regained to his feet after being knocked down by some clumsy Warrior in the sorting area. He sensed though that the Warrior had not fallen by himself, but was tripped. Curiously, he wandered around until he felt that whoever tripped this warrior was near. Hyper raised his head up to sense a figure atop a building. "An Assassin.... figures..." He then sensed the Assassin had moved into the sorting area. Hyper with no bone of fear in his body approached the Assassin... " Funny.... thinking you could actually get away with that."
(Yeah, sorry about those double posts. @_@ My internet screwed up and froze... So I clicked the button again...)
With his arms crossed and his head low Kravyn waited to awknoledge the Necromancer untill he spoke. His brown eyes raised to the Necromancers and due to Kravyn's small stature his head had to tilt back slightly. Already annoyed at this Kravyn gritted his teeth and smiled through his annoyance. Nodding, Kravyn answered. His voice was cocky and proud with the usual hint of rudness.
"Yes, in fact, I did."
Tilting his head Kravyn smirked behind his white mask, shaking his head and chuckling quietly as he noticed the Necromancer's handicap. Figuring that the man was weaker than him due to this blindness Kravyn found it okay to poke fun at this. It would prove to be some more entertainment for him while he awaited a more suitable victim. So, his mind set to work. Scouting out subtle insults that could be used and passed off as simple banter. Kravyn was smoothe, no doubt about that. He was the type that could lie to you from the day you met him and you completely believe every word he said. The trait is probably what got him so far in life. That and his extremely good luck.
"What I mean is, I don't know many Rangers who could track me down, yet alone a blind Necro." He paused and smirked a bit more. "But, as they say, there is a first time for everything. Then again... I was standing in plain sight. So, maybe you just got lucky. Eh?"
Grinning at his purposfully poor choice of words Kravyn sunk low. Sliding effortlessly and soundlessly across the sand and behind the Necro. Examining the scars about his body Kravyn raised an eyebrow and brushed away his grey hair.
"So, are those beauty marks? Or did you end up on the wrong end of and Oni's claw?"
With his tendancy to, overexert his rudness Kravyn had gotten himself into a lot of trouble. But with his contrasting knack for getting out of tough situations he remained safe and secure. Adding his knack for escaping trouble to his skill made him overconfidant and cocky. Also downright rude and quite frankly made him come off as a bad person. Which was far far far from the truth. Kravyn Darkrain was a good guy. Granted, he had a hot temper and was easily agitated by even the slightest hint of him being short, but he still protected the innocent and cared.
"No matter... I'm Kravyn. No doubt you've heard of me. I'm somewhat of a legend around these parts." Sounding rather proud and smug, odds were that no one in the Random Arenas had heard of Kravyn Darkrain. But Kravyn seemed... Ignorant to that fact. "I don't like to admit it but... I'm kind of a big deal."
(:P Had to work that title and movie quote in somewhere.)
OOC: ^ I was laughing my arse off as i read this.. nice job.
IC:
Hyper chuckled softly as Kravyn made his remarks. Thinking of a way to get back at the clever Assassin. Hyper knew Kravyn was trying to push him over the edge, to get him in a frenzy...but something was different. Today, Hyper decided not to use violence but to use words instead. What led him to do this, he doesn't even know why he did this himself.
"Or... have you ever thought that your a horrible assassin and that I find it extremly pathetic that a blind necro was able to catch you in the act. I'll excuse that scar comment and you have no business as to how i have them. Now if you'll excuse me..." Hyper.. in a streak of brilliance patted the short Assassin on the head as he turned away. Knowing this would anger Kravyn, he laughed softly to himself.
Hyper knew he wouldn't get out of this conversation, it called to him... to continue speaking... eagerly waiting and enjoying every moment of this Assassin getting agitated. He slowly turned around and resumed the conversation.
"The name's Hyper, and no.... i haven't heard of you... so you musn't be that of a legend eh? So, care to make anymore witty remarks?
(Thanks. )
"I..."
"Well..."
"You..."
It wasn't like Kravyn to resort to violence within the limits of an outpost, but this Necromancer tempted him to completely ignor his sence of decency and gut the pale twig of a man right there. But, luckily for the Necromancer, Kravyn held back. The fact of the matter was, that Kravyn was a damn good assassin. But his cockiness tended to get the best of him, as did his temper. And so, with clenched fists, gritted teeth, and glaring eyes he pushed back the anger and set up his veil. With a soft chuckle to hide a low growl, Kravyn nodded, meeting Hyper's introduction and question with a subtle amount of resilience.
"Nice to meet you."
Mumbling a few incoherant curses Kravyn's head darted to his left, his eyes locking onto a waddleing crab. His brown occulars followed this creature as it scurried across the sand toward it's unknown destination. As the crab passed the grouping platform a ranger caught his eye. Sitting, in the middle of the group, completely obliviouse, or so it seemed, to the world around him. With a sly grin and a challenging glance to Hyper, Kravyn sped off. Darting effortlessly through the crowd, avoiding elbows, ducking arms, even slipping between the legs of a rather large warrior Kravyn approached the platform in silence. Examining the strange antics of the Ranger Kravyn tilted his head. Blinking Kravyn slapped his head.
"Doh."
Realising how idiotic it was of him to overlook the simple excuse. He was meditating. Narrowing his eyes and suddenly finding no interest in the Ranger Kravyn shrugged and glanced around. With a yawn and a stretch he sat, his back against a large rock. Awaiting something to catch his attention, he looked around. Completely aware.
" Nice to meet y-... Hmm i guess he ran off...oh well. I better get prepared for the next match"
Hyper continued to ponder about the Assassin...What he went through to act as he did, how he could help him... but this was not his place.. no he had another mission, to find his sister. Maybe searching through these crowds of people and questioning them, he would find some answers.. just maybe. But something distracted him from this train of thought... he would first calm his mind by fighting in the Arenas.
He began walking through the crowds of people to the nearest Separator Usually he would be wondering where his life would take him next, the next lead to reuniting him with his sister or another dead end. But Hyper was not keen on these thoughts, but intent on some relaxation in the Random Arenas... they were a way of healing of sorts. As he reached the Separator, he was called to.
"You Necro, come here.... you're gonna be paired up with this Ranger here."
" OK thank you.."
Hyper then moved over to the ranger sensing he too wast spiritually aware. He then sat next to the ranger and went into a meditative state, hoping to find this ranger in his thoughts and learn more about him so that he, and the ranger for their sakes, would be well prepared for the next match.
More storyline from me!
-----
Plat walked silently through the dark forests of an unknown part of Tyria. Alicia had not replied to his signal, so he simply sent a message to her, telling her that he was "going to find Vantie and Mali and bring them back to you, for your own sake".
Plat had recovered his ties with Vantie, and could sense his immense necrotic power from far away. Yet, Plat could not grasp Vantie's location. He only walked on, in hopes of finding him.
For a long time, Plat had been sensing a great darkness in the forest. He sense a being of immense power. Just one, not many. Plat felt a slight fear for the first time in two years. Yet, he knew he wasn't going down without a fight...
-----
Ok, small storyline break here, I wanna type some OOC before doing an uber long post...So I'll just say that within this post I will introduce a new temporary character that I will control for a short period of time. This new character will probably only be used for a few posts to progress with Plat's story. I will also be naming many people that are affected by something that happens in the story. Only the people named will be affected. Time for me to start looking for those names before I add more stuff! I'll edit this post.
EDIT: Alright, I have a pretty long storyline thing here, it might not fit. If it doesn't, I'll double post. That's right, I'll double post. I'm sure the mods won't mind this one double post seeing that it is one that is largely necessary for this RP. Well, I shouldn't be wasting story space, here it is!
-----
Plat walked on. He sensed the darkness growing with each step he took. He was getting closer. Plat took a couple of minutes to check his swords, sheathed them, and walked on…
-----
Plat saw something in the shadows of the forest. He felt the darkness at it’s peak, but continued to walk on. He then emerged into a small clearing, and was suddenly struck with fear.
Plat faced a being of the greatest darkness, a demon that almost surpasses the power of Grenth himself…He faced a Reaver. The mere sight of this creature immediately struck great fear into Plat’s heart and as he faced death, all of Plat’s memories flooded back to him in full strength. His ties with long lost friends were suddenly renewed in full strength, and he felt the location of each and every single one of them, even Vantie for a moment. But this was only a glint of light in an eternity of darkness. Plat was about to face one of the most dangerous monsters known to the world.
A dark energy began emanating from Plat’s Kanaxai’s Edge. He suddenly realized that the Reaver is not only immune to darkness, but is also healed greatly by it. And being that Kanaxai’s Edge was the blade of a great demon, it was most definitely a weapon of darkness. Plat kept the sword sheathed, and instead drew out his treasured Long Sword. He prepared to fight one of the greatest battles he had ever fought.
-----
The forest seemed to close in on Plat and the Reaver, and the clearing was suddenly covered densely with trees. It was only light enough to see about 30 feet, and the rest faded into darkness. A single leaf fell off of a tree. As it hit the ground, Plat charged toward the Reaver, and the Reaver drew a great sword of darkness and an axe of terrifying strength. Blasts of dark energy shot out at Plat from the Reaver’s body, but Plat dodged them and continued his charge. When he reached within ten feet of the Reaver, Plat leaped and prepared to thrust his sword in the chest of the Reaver. But Plat would not make it.
-----
Both of the Reaver’s piercing tentacles thrust themselves into Plat’s heart. Time then suddenly slowed down for Plat. As his life slipped away, he remembered a promise he made to his friend, Riona, who he at their home in Ascalon before he traveled to Cantha…
-----
Memory Sequence
Eleven-year old Plat was ready to leave for Cantha. But before he did so, he went to say goodbye to his dear friend Riona.
Plat: “Riona, I’m leaving now. Stay safe here, and don’t worry much about me. I’ll be fine in Cantha.”
Riona: “I don’t want you to leave. But I guess it’s for the best…”
Plat: “Cantha shouldn’t be much more dangerous than what I’ve experienced here in Tyria.”
Riona: “Will you come back for me?”
Plat: “I will. I promise I will.”
And so Plat departed from his home in Ascalon and went on his way to Lion’s Arch to aid Cantha in their crisis.
End Memory Sequence
-----
As Plat remembered this promise he made, he realized that he was not able to fulfill it. He failed Riona, and he was not able to keep one of his most important promises. With the last of his energy, Plat whispered into the mists of the forest: “I’m sorry.” And so Plat died.
-----
A great chill fell upon the land. But it was not felt by all. It was only felt by those whom Plat had kept in his heart, those friends he had traveled with since he was eight.
While she was resting in her guild hall, Alicia Stormcrow felt this chill, and she knew where it came from.
In his home far away, a slightly insane Sanjinu Dalsworth felt this as well, and remembered who it came from.
In another part of the land, the warrior Link Ironhammer, who himself was one of Plat’s closest friends, felt the chill, and he too knew it’s source.
Other friends that felt this chill were Omega Hammerer and the Stormcrow sisters. And deep in a dark forest, Vantie stood, cloaked in back, and looked up into the sky, feeling the chill, a chill that was colder than anything he had felt before. But none of these had felt the chill the worst. The one that felt the chill at it’s coldest was the one that Plat held closest to his heart…
Riona suddenly felt a great coldness all around her and in her heart…And at the moment where everyone had felt this chill, all of their spirits were sent to some alternate realm. Everyone stood in a pitch black area, except for a circle of light in a ritualistic pattern. They all stood in a group at the edge of the magic circle, and in the center of it they saw the spirit of Plat slowly fade away. As it disappeared, he smiled. A sad smile, but one that came deep from his heart. Upon this, his spirit faded into the darkness, and everyone else’s spirits returned to their bodies.
Upon returning, Riona once again felt the chill, but in greater strength. Her blood became cold and her skin turned pale white…
Riona found her Staff of Light, which she had kept in storage since Plat left. I have to find Plat in the Underworld, she thought to herself. She prepared for a journey into the Underworld, and begun to cast her teleportation spell.
-----
Plat’s spirit awoke in a dark area. As he stood up, he realized that his spirit was still alive, and that the area was full of nothing but darkness. He immediately knew where he was: the border between Life and Death. He began to walk, knowing that there is something to be found in this realm.
OOC: Awesome job Plat! Almost brought to tears on that one!
IC:
Images of memory and fantasy flicked back and fourth in Alicia's mind. Images of her past friends, Sanjinu, Omega, Link, and Plat, but most prominantly the memory of her beloved, a man torn by darkness, but healed by love. This man walked in the narrow corridor between life and death, as Alicia did, along with her sister, Ksaiya, and many others. She knew this corridor of torment, as she walked within it in in her mind's eye while she was asleep, always chasing after the man who haunted her dreams, but never catching him.
It was then, within that corridor, that there was an immense chill. She was taken from the corridor, with her sisters and others, and stood within a ritualistic place: The Judgement's Ring. Within, a small boy stood, she recognized him as a past companion, awaiting Judgement to take him. But instead of sinking, as all the rest she had seen, he slowly faded backward, into the corridor opposite from her own. All who had witnessed stood in surprise, all except for Alicia, and the man she had been chasing for so long. They both smiled, and shed a single joyful tear. He had been spared an eternity of torment within the Underworld, but instead walked the path that they themselves did, only he was within the world of Grenth. He would come back, this she knew.
Judgement's Witnesses started fading back into the corridor, and Alicia saw this as her chance to capture the man she had chased, a man named Vanatiel, One of the Darkness. She took his hand as they began to fade, simultaneously, into the corridor. When they had reached it, she took no time in explaining herself, or allowing him to explain. She only did the one thing she had wanted to do for months on end. She let go of his hand, threw her arms around his neck, and kissed him so passionately that he had no choice but to do the same thing back.
It was said that only two things could melt the corridor's torment from one who walked within: Death, and the Reunion Kiss. Many had died while within the corridor, and when they had, Dwayna shone her light from above, and guided them to her with a gentle hand. However, none had ever successfully completed a Reunion Kiss, the truthful kiss of lovers torn apart by time and space, until now.
The dark corridor melted and wafted away in a smooth breeze. Blackened clothing became white, all scars and wounds were healed, and all doubt and displeasure disappeared. As the Reunion Kiss continued, the land of Diamond Branches, the forest within Dwayna's Realm, came under their feet, and the gem-buds bloomed into fragrant, crystal flowers. The Cloudbearers sent down rain from the heavens, soaking the couple, who had gone into a passionate frenzy.
As they pulled apart, the realm of Diamond Branches faded to Alicia, and so she was sent away from her slumber. She opened her eyes slowly, and there, sitting on the edge of her bed, was the same man from her dreams, the same man that had been gone for months, and her true tall, dark, and handsome: Vanatiel.
She smiled, and whispered, "I knew you'd come back."
